Wrapping the wires or stems of sugar flowers is an important step for both handmade and premade flowers. Join cake designer Rachael Teufel as she preps sugar blossoms from the “Sugar Flower Basics Stephanotis” lesson and a few others before placing them on a cake.
Rachael demonstrates her method of using paper floral tape to wrap the metal wires that are not already wrapped in paper to prevent the metal wire from coming into contact with the cake. Rachael also steps you though wrapping multiple flowers and foliage together to create small groupings to streamline placement and reduce excess bulk.
Included are tips and tricks on working with floral tape and creating flower arrangements with odd numbers. Rachael encourages you to play with the arrangements using a variety of different shapes of blossoms and leaves to create visually appealing arrangements. Don’t fret if you break a petal or two, all is not lost. Rachael will show you how to embrace each of those natural flaws and imperfections to create a more natural appearance.
After you have wrapped and properly prepared your sugar flowers, head over to Rachael next premium lesson on “Arranging Sugar Flowers” to create a beautiful floral arrangement on your next cake.
